Why Are Dental Implants the Preferred Method for Tooth Replacement?

Dental implants are widely considered the premium option for tooth replacement, offering better and more cost-effective results than traditional dentures or bridges. With dental implants, you can enjoy new teeth nearly as strong as your natural ones. They look seamless, and they can potentially last the rest of your life with the right care.

How Will My Surgeon Determine Whether I am A Candidate for Dental Implants?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Felts will review 3D images of your teeth and jaw while considering your medical history. Ensuring you are suitable for safe and successful implant placement is crucial, especially if you are interested in All-on-4 dental implants or other forms of full-arch restoration. Adequate bone health is essential for successful implant anchoring, but alternative options, such as zygomatic implants and bone grafting, are available at Riverbend Oral Surgery for those with insufficient jawbone.

How Are Dental Implants Placed and Restored?

Our clinical care team administers anesthesia for your comfort in a welcoming environment. Dental implants are then carefully placed into the jawbone, and you can return home to heal. The process typically takes about 45 minutes.

After 4 months, the stability of your implant will be checked via a simple procedure called an ISQ. At that time, a healing abutment will be placed, and you will be able to follow up with your restoring general dentist after 2 weeks for your final restoration.

Custom-made crowns, mirroring natural teeth, are integrated into your smile by your restoring dentist, completing your dental restoration.

Recovery and Aftercare

Patients need to allow their dental implants to integrate with their jawbone over four months. Dr. Felts provides detailed recovery instructions to make this process comfortable and successful. While avoiding strenuous exercise for a few weeks is recommended, you can return to your routine as soon as you feel comfortable. Discomfort and swelling usually subside within four or five days and can be managed with prescribed or over-the-counter medications.
